Welcome!
Welcome to West Virginia University’s Department of Transportation and Parking. Our goal is to provide you with excellent transportation services and to make getting around our three campuses as effortless as possible. Our Department provides on-campus parking and fleet maintenance for University vehicles, operates shuttle services for persons with mobility impairments and charter bus services to and around campus, and operates WVU’s world famous Personal Rapid Transit system known as the PRT.
Besides these services we created programs through our WE GO! campaign that encourage alternative transportation on our campus and around Morgantown. Students, faculty, and staff all have access to the PRT and Mountain Line – Mon County’s award winning regional transit system bus service. Employees can access on-line carpool matching and vanpool programs that provide reduced permits, preferred parking, and a limited number of guaranteed rides home for emergencies. Students can use the online carpool matching to find rides to campus as well as weekend rides home. Employees that are willing to give up their parking permits to use walking, biking or any of the other WE GO! programs are provided 18 free one-day parking permits under our “Occasional Parking Program”. And we certainly encourage bicycle and walking to and around campus. Go to our WE GO! portion of the website to find out more about the programs.
We are very excited about new facilities and planning initiatives that the Department has undertaken. Our new intermodal transportation center named Mountaineer Station opened in October 2009. The Mountaineer Station houses a 500 space parking garage that is open to all, a transit terminal for Mountain Line, apartment shuttles, and WVU shuttle bus services, and bicycle lockers and showers for those that would like to ride their bike to campus. We also completed a Parking Facilities Master Plan in June 2009 and a PRT Master Plan in May of 2010. Both of these documents are available on this website.
If you have questions or comments regarding transportation or parking contact the offices listed within. And LET’S GO MOUNTAINEERS!
