Sending Mail Through WVU Mail Services

Guidelines

  1. Include a DSN (Distribution Set Number).
    • All outgoing mail must be labeled with a valid DSN. This code ensures proper billing and processing. If your department needs a new DSN or additional DSN cards, please contact Mail Services.

  2. Avoid paperclips and binder clips inside envelopes.
    • These can interfere with automated mail sorting and may result in increased postage costs. Please remove all clips before mailing.

  3. Sort your mail before submission:
    • Separate campus mail, domestic mail and international mail.
    • Separate sealed mail from unsealed mail.
    • Arrange all mail facing the same direction.

  4. Bundle mail by DSN.
    • Use rubber bands to group together mail items that share the same DSN. Do not bundle items with different DSNs together.

  5. Once sorted and bundled, place your outgoing mail in your department’s designated mail pickup area.
