PRT construction work this summer; Hodges Hall bus loop closed May 6 to Aug. 1

To accommodate construction activities near the Beechurst PRT station, the Hodges Hall bus loop will be closed from May 6 through Aug. 1.

During this time, construction crews will work on a bridge-bearing replacement project for the two guideway bridges that cross over Beechurst Avenue. This work will include the replacement of all bearing pads, necessary concrete repairs, pier cleaning and concrete sealing.

The Engineering and Towers PRT stations will also receive upgrades this summer. Crews at the Engineering station will remove existing steel fascia panels and replace all safety railings and emergency walkway surfaces. At the Towers station, both existing elevators will be replaced with updated units.

The PRT will be closed for summer break beginning Saturday, May 4, and will reopen on Aug. 12. Guideway and vehicle maintenance will continue throughout the summer, which is a large focus for the PRT team each summer while the system is closed to passengers.
