To ensure efficient snow removal from parking lots, the WVU Parking Management and Facilities Management Roads and Grounds teams provide the following reminders to students and employees:
- When entering a parking lot where the Roads and Grounds team is actively working to remove snow, please be mindful of snow removal equipment within the lot and park in a cleared parking space when possible.
- State vehicles parked in lots should be relocated to the outer edge of the lot, preferably in a corner or by an island, to allow for easier snow removal.
- Gravel parking lots are more challenging to remove snow from, and deicing salts cannot be used on gravel. Please exercise additional caution as you park and walk in gravel lots.
- At all times but especially in these cold temperatures, drivers should yield to pedestrians in crosswalks and allow pedestrians to cross the street first.
- The Roads and Grounds team works as diligently and as quickly as we can to remove snow around campus, but you may encounter a snow-covered parking lot that has not yet been cleared. If you find a snow-covered lot that you are uncomfortable driving or parking in, please call the Parking Management Office at 304-293-5502 and we can redirect you to a nearby lot, as space allows.
- If a parking lot is closed due to snow and the snow removal process, permit holders may park in an adjacent open lot, while continuing to display their permit.
- For off-campus sidewalks or parking lots that need maintenance, utilize the City of Morgantown’s mobile app to report areas that need service.
